Trust & Safety

Last updated: May 30, 2026

When a parent sees a camp on Wildroost, they deserve to know exactly what we stand behind—and what we don’t. This page explains our verification labels in plain language.

What the verification labels mean

A verification label tells you who confirmed a provider or camp exists—nothing more. Verification is about existence only. It is not a check of safety practices, licensing, staff credentials, availability, prices, quality, or whether a camp is the right fit for your family. The label only reflects the strongest source that confirmed the listing is real.

Provider Verified

The provider or an authorized provider account confirmed this provider or camp exists. Verification does not mean Wildroost has checked safety practices, licensing, staff credentials, availability, prices, quality, or fit for your family.

Admin Verified

A Wildroost admin confirmed from public or provider-supplied evidence that this provider or camp exists. This is not a safety, licensing, staffing, availability, price, quality, or endorsement check.

WildroostBot verified

WildroostBot found public web or registration data showing this provider or camp exists. Automated verification is lower confidence than provider or admin confirmation and does not verify safety, licensing, staffing, availability, prices, quality, or fit.

Unverified

We have not yet confirmed this provider or camp exists with the provider, an admin, or WildroostBot. Unverified does not mean the camp is not real—only that none of the three sources above has confirmed it yet.

What we do NOT verify

This is the most important section on this page. A camp being listed on Wildroost—even with a “Verified” badge—does not mean we have checked any of the following:

Staff background checks

We do not verify whether a camp conducts background checks on staff. This is the parent’s responsibility to confirm directly with the provider.

Safety record

We do not investigate accident history, safety violations, or insurance status. We do not review or score safety practices.

Licensing or accreditation

We do not verify state childcare licensing, ACA (American Camp Association) accreditation, or any other regulatory compliance. A camp being listed on Wildroost does not imply it meets any specific licensing standard.

Staff qualifications

We do not verify instructor certifications, CPR/First Aid training, staff-to-child ratios, or any other staffing standards.

Facilities

We do not inspect facilities. Listing a camp does not imply we have evaluated the physical environment.

Financial viability

We do not verify that a camp will honor registrations, provide refunds, or continue operating through the season.

Endorsement

Listing on Wildroost is not an endorsement or recommendation. We are a directory, not a recommendation engine. The presence of a camp on our platform does not constitute our approval.

Review authenticity

While we moderate reviews for policy violations, we do not independently verify the accuracy of parent reviews.

Your due diligence

No directory can substitute for a parent’s own judgment. Before registering your child for any camp, we recommend:

  • Ask about background checks. Ask the provider directly whether they run background checks on all staff and volunteers.
  • Check licensing. Oregon’s Office of Child Care maintains a searchable database of licensed child care providers.
  • Look for ACA accreditation. The American Camp Association accredits camps that meet over 300 health, safety, and program quality standards.
  • Visit the facility. If possible, tour the camp location before the session starts. Ask about emergency procedures, medical protocols, and supervision ratios.
  • Read the cancellation policy. Understand the provider’s refund and cancellation terms before you pay.
  • Talk to other parents. Reviews on Wildroost are a starting point. Ask friends, school communities, and local parent groups for firsthand experiences.
